MEET DR. ashwini joshi mds DDS ms (DR ASH)

A second generation orthodontist, Dr. Ash aspired to be an orthodontist and follow in her father’s footsteps since the young age of six years. Growing up in India, Dr. Ash completed dental school in Mumbai and orthodontic residency in the southern state of Karnataka. After graduation, she also passed the qualifying examination for membership to the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (MOrthRCS)

Dr. Ash decided to complete a one year fellowship in Craniofacial Orthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago and landed in the US. Her career path led her to stay back and complete a two year program for internationally trained dentists at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. Her passion for orthodontics led her to complete a second residency in Orthodontics also at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a distinction held by a small percentage of orthodontists practicing in the US.

Her academic interests have led her to complete advanced research projects. Upon graduation, Dr. Ash was also awarded the prestigious Milo Hellman Research Award, which is the top honor given by the American Association of Orthodontics, for her Master’s Thesis.

Dr. Ash has to her credit several presentations at National and International level conferences and publications in peer reviewed journals. She was indicted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Dental Honor Society upon graduation.

Dr. Ash practiced in Chicago for ten and a half years and decided to move to Austin to be close to family. She brings with her several years of experience in treating simple and complex cases with metal and clear braces. She is also certified in clear aligner treatment with Invisalign. She has also worked with specialists in other dental fields with multidisciplinary and surgical cases.

Dr. Ash and her husband have one daughter, who is almost three years old. Her interests outside of the orthodontic field include spending time with her daughter, listening to music, cooking, zumba and travel. She loves to explore different cultures through travel and food. Being a recent transplant to Austin, she loves the live music scene and loves to try different food trucks and restaurants in the city. She loves the warm weather and is excited to explore more of the culture and outdoor life that Texas has to offer. Dr. Ash is fluent in English, HIndi, Marathi.

Dr. Ash is committed to providing the best level of care to her patients in a gentle and friendly manner. She believes that a beautiful smile can make a big difference in peoples’ lives and build confidence. She is also involved in many community activities and wants to be an active member of the Leander community.
